Our services have now resumed in all our churches.
Masks must be worn inside all churches. (There are valid exemptions for some individuals and groups not to wear a face covering in church. In particular, those who are leading services those reading or leading prayer do not always need to wear a face covering.)
There will be a one way system operating in the churches so just follow the arrows. There are either red crosses or reserved signs on pews that should not be used so that we can keep the relevant safe distances.
When you enter the church please go to the table and use the hand sanitizer and then pick up a service book (and please return the book to the table when you leave). We aren’t allowed to sing at this time so hymn books are not needed.
The service will be a simplified version – we can share the wafers but not the wine at this time.
We will also be opening St Stephen's on a Wednesday afternoon from 2.00 – 4.00 if we have enough volunteers to “supervise”.
During this difficult time there are many digital resources that we can access. Details of many of these can be found on the church-online section of the Church of England website (churchofengland.org/more/media-centre/church-online). These include weekly streamed services and daily audio. Updates to the current situation can be found on the covid-19 section (churchofengland.org/more/media-centre/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-churches).
Church of England has launched a free national phone line to bring worship and prayer to people in their homes while church buildings remain closed. 'Daily Hope' offers music, prayers and reflections, as well as full worship services and is available 24 hours a day - on 0800 804 8044.
