SALTASH AREA CHURCHES

Love God, Serve People, Make Disciples

Who We Are

Who We Are

We are a community of five Churches (St Stephens and SS Nicholas and Faith in Saltash, St Michael in Landrake, St Terninus in St Erney and St Mary in Botus Fleming) in South East Cornwall.

We belong to the Church of England (https://www.churchofengland.org) and are in the diocese of Truro (https://www.trurodiocese.org.uk).

You are most welcome at any of our events and to our Church Services. We are ‘Family Friendly‘ and know that young children like to move about and make a noise during services. To help keep them entertained we have an area at the back of each church where there are soft toys, books and other activities. For children and adults of all ages there is Messy Church, every third Saturday of the month.

As well as groups and courses, we also have a full calendar of social events. Click here to be added to our St Stephen’s social events email list. We also keep in touch via facebook

The Reverend Diane Burrows

Diane Burrows Di moved to Saltash in 1971 and has lived in the area since (including Landrake and Hatt). She was married to Richard (who sadly passed away in 2022) and they have have two children; one currently working in Plymouth and the other in London.

Similar to many of her colleagues, Di trained with SWMTC gaining (in the process) a Degree in Theology through Exeter University. She joined the Saltash Ministry Team in 2005 as a self-supporting Priest as she was still working full time (as a Compliance Auditor),

Di remains part of the Saltash Ministry Team working now as a Priest with PTO (Permission to Officiate) still on a voluntary basis; she is also Padre to 335 Squadron Air Cadets and a School Governor.

The Reverend Josie Lobb

Jo LobbJosie grew up in the beautiful village of St Germans, Cornwall, which has the GWR running through it on the Paddington to Penzance route, so hence a continual love and interest of all things trains and railways which is still with her! She started Bellringing at twelve years old and this led on to more involvement with church life, becoming  a Chorister, PCC member, Deanery Synod rep and Churchwarden at what is now the St Germans Priory.

Josie began working in NHS Dentistry as a Dental Nurse before starting her State Registered Nurse training and spent her nursing career working in all the Plymouth Hospitals. She worked in all types of specialities but spent the final twenty years working in cancer care as a Ward Sister and Specialist Nurse and Practitioner.

It was in 1996 that Josie was ordained and served as Curate to St Germans, Tideford, Hessenford and Downderry before moving to Saltash as Associate Priest. In 2012 she became Team Vicar to The Saltash Team Ministry serving SS Nicholas & Faith and St Stephen by Saltash until health issues necessitated retirement. Since then Josie has served as PTO (Permission to Officiate) and also a Chaplain to the Retired Clergy in the Diocese.

Josie is proudly Cornish and loves everything about the culture and uniqueness of the beautiful County and loves nothing more than to explore the hidden, quiet places of coast and countryside with her camera. Among many interests that she has is a great love of animals (cats are her top favourite), gardening, visiting National Ttust gardens and music. She also plays the Cornet in her local Brass Band!
