Each year between Ascension Day and Pentecost, churches across the world take part in Thy Kingdom Come. It is a simple invitation to pray for our communities, our churches, and the people God has placed on our hearts. What began as a small initiative in the Church of England has grown into a global movement that brings Christians of many traditions together in prayer and hope.
At its heart, Thy Kingdom Come is very straightforward. We pray for the Holy Spirit to renew us, our churches, and our world.
Everyone is encouraged to choose five people and pray for them each day. These might be friends, neighbours, colleagues, or family members. You can keep their names in your Bible, light a candle, or simply hold them before God in a moment of quiet. Many people find this daily practice surprisingly powerful.
This year we are also invited to pray about vocation. Vocation is not only about ordained ministry. It includes the gifts we use in daily life, the ways we serve in church and community, the quiet nudges of the Spirit, the courage to explore something new, and the wisdom to recognise God’s call in others. During these days we will be praying for people to hear God’s call in whatever form it comes.
This year’s Prayer Journal takes us through a journey of Scripture, exploring the work of the Holy Spirit. Each day has a simple theme.

If you prefer to pray at home or on the move, Thy Kingdom Come offers a wide range of free online resources.
The TKC app is available on Apple and Android devices. It includes the daily themes, short reflections and prayers, audio versions of the Novena, videos, and reminders to pray for your five people. It is simple to use and ideal if you want something you can carry with you through the day.
The TKC website also offers the Prayer Journal, the Novena, daily videos, family activities, music, podcasts, and printable prayer cards. Everything is free to download and you can use as much or as little as you find helpful.
If you cannot get to the daily services, you can still join in by following the daily theme on the app or website, lighting a candle, praying for your five people, or using the short prayers in the Novena.
Thy Kingdom Come is a small commitment with a generous heart. Ten days of prayer, hope, and openness to God. Whether you join us in church, at home, or quietly in your own time, you are part of something much larger than any one parish.
